Moya Traditional Matcha 30 g

Moya Traditional Japanese Matcha 30 g is a high-quality powdered green tea from the renowned Uji region in Kyoto Prefecture. It has an intense green colour, a silky texture and a harmonious flavour with gentle sweetness and a subtle hint of bitterness.

Traditional matcha from Uji, Japan

The tea is made from young leaves of the first and second harvest, grown in the shade of bamboo covers. Limited light increases the chlorophyll and L-theanine content, giving the leaves a deep green colour and a rich, balanced flavour profile.

Matcha ground between stone mills

After harvest the leaves are carefully dried and then ground between traditional stone mills. This slow process produces a fine, silky, high-quality powder, ideal for preparing matcha the classic way.

Flavour and character of traditional matcha

Moya Traditional Matcha has a mild, harmonious flavour. Natural sweetness is balanced by a gentle bitterness, making it suitable for everyday drinking, whether prepared the classic way or more diluted.

How to prepare Japanese matcha

You need a matchawan (tea bowl), a chasen (bamboo whisk) and a chashaku (bamboo scoop). Add about 2 scoops of matcha to the bowl, which is about 1.5 g of powder. Pour in 100 ml of water at about 80°C. Whisk vigorously in an M-shaped motion for about 30 seconds, until a thick green foam forms. Then add more water to adjust the strength of the tea to your taste.

What traditional matcha works best for

This type of matcha is a good fit for a daily tea ritual, for people just starting out with matcha and for anyone who values a mild, balanced flavour. It can also be the base for simple hot and cold drinks.
