Mahlkönig Grinders

German coffee grinders for cafes, roasteries and specialty bars. From the compact E65S to the EK43 with 98 mm burrs.

Which Mahlkönig grinder to choose

Three things decide: burr diameter, grinding output and whether the grinder doses by time or by weight.

Model Burrs Output Best for
E65S 65 mm 4-7 g/s cafes and restaurants, time dosing, 6 recipes, 19.5 cm wide housing
E65W GbS 65 mm 4-7 g/s cafes running several shifts, built-in scale accurate to 0.1 g with automatic grind correction
E80S 80 mm 6-7 g/s bars busy all day, up to 90 kg of coffee per day
E80W GbS 80 mm 6-7 g/s high volume with weight dosing, without weighing every shot separately
EK43 98 mm 19-21 g/s roasteries, cupping labs, batch brew, the highest throughput we stock
EK43 S 98 mm up to 21 g/s the same mechanism in a lower housing, where headroom is tight
EK Omnia 98 mm 11.5-13.5 g/s bars working with several coffees, touchscreen and 10 recipes in Library Mode

E series or EK series

The E series grinds for espresso. These machines stand next to the espresso machine and grind into the portafilter, so speed between shots and dose repeatability matter most. They fit cafes and restaurants.

The EK series is universal. It grinds for espresso, pour over, batch brew and cupping, and its advantage is throughput: the EK43 reaches 19-21 g/s, the highest in the Mahlkönig range. This is the choice for roasteries and sensory labs.

If you work with several coffees at once and want to switch between them without recalibrating, the EK Omnia stores up to 10 recipes and moves the burrs itself once you pick a coffee.

Time dosing or weight dosing

Models marked S measure the dose by grinding time. They are simpler and cheaper, but as humidity changes or beans age the dose drifts away from the setting and has to be corrected by hand.

Models marked W GbS have a built-in scale and hold the dose to 0.1 g. Grind by Sync corrects the grind size as it works, so consecutive doses come out the same no matter who is behind the bar. That difference pays off where staff rotates and nobody checks the grinder every hour.

Burr life

The manufacturer gives an approximate throughput after which burrs are worth replacing: around 800 kg for 65 mm burrs, around 2500 kg for 80 mm and around 6000 kg for 98 mm. These are guide figures. The real replacement point depends on the beans, the grind settings, foreign objects and how regularly the grinding chamber is cleaned.

Frequently asked questions

Are Mahlkönig grinders suitable for home use?
The models we stock are built for hospitality. Their size and output are calculated for continuous duty, and buying one for home use rarely makes economic sense. The manufacturer has a separate home range.

What is the difference between the EK43 and the EK43 S?
The mechanism is the same, including the 98 mm burrs and output up to 21 g/s. The difference is the housing: the EK43 stands over 80 cm tall, while the S version is lower and fits under wall cabinets or above a bar with limited headroom.

How long is delivery and what drives the price?
Mahlkönig prices follow the euro exchange rate, so the final amount is confirmed when the order is placed. Delivery time depends on the model and the colour version, because some configurations are brought in to order.

Will you help me pick a model?
Yes. Write to b2b@colbergcoffee.pl or call +48 883 239 480 and tell us how many coffees you serve per day and which espresso machine you work on. We will match the grinder to that, not to a price list.
