Mahlkönig E80S is an electric espresso grinder with 80 mm flat burrs and 6-7 g/s output. It was built for cafés, restaurants and bars where the grinder works all day and has to keep up with a queue of orders. Burrs rated for around 2,500 kg and a maximum daily capacity of 90 kg make it suitable as the main grinder in a high-volume venue.

Mahlkönig E80 Supreme and E80S: are they the same grinder?
The E80 Supreme and the E80S are one and the same machine. E80 Supreme was the original name used at launch, later shortened to E80S. They are not two different grinders or successive generations, even though some Polish shops still list them as two separate products.
The letter “S” stands for the time-based dosing version. The grinder measures the dose by programmed grinding time and has no built-in scale. The weighing version is the Mahlkönig E80W GbS, which replaced the earlier E80S GbW.
The Mahlkönig E80S is 13,339 zł gross. It is available in matte black and white.
80 mm burrs and 6-7 g/s output
The 80 mm flat burrs are made of cast steel with Mahlkönig’s own tooth geometry. At a 250 micron setting the grinder delivers 6-7 g/s, so an 18 g dose takes about 2.6-3 seconds. A speed of 1,400 rpm at 50 Hz keeps dosing times short even through a run of orders.
Stated burr life is around 2,500 kg of coffee. At 5 kg a day that means about 500 days of work before reaching that figure. The grinder’s maximum daily capacity is 90 kg, which in theory is 5,000 doses of 18 g. That is the limit of the grinder itself: the real number of coffees also depends on the espresso machine, the number of groups and how the bar is organised.
Stepless grind adjustment uses the patented Disc Distance Detection system. It makes it easier to control the distance between the burrs, which matters when changing a recipe or going back to a previous setting.
E80S vs E65S: when does the larger grinder make sense?
The E80S has 80 mm burrs instead of 65 mm, a 1.8 kg hopper instead of 1.2 kg and 6-7 g/s output compared with 4-7 g/s for the E65S. The biggest difference in running costs is burr life: around 2,500 kg for the E80S and around 800 kg for the E65S.
The practical buying threshold comes at regular use of around 3-5 kg of coffee a day, or with intense waves of orders. At 3 kg a day, the stated burr life works out at about 833 days for the E80S and about 267 days for the E65S. At 5 kg a day it is about 500 and 160 days respectively. In a venue like that, larger burrs and longer burr life mean less frequent servicing, and a dose ground in under 3 seconds helps at peak times.
If a venue uses less than 1-2 kg a day and there are no queues at the espresso station, the E65S will usually be fast enough. Choose the E80S when the grinder is to be the main machine in a busy café, hotel, bakery or restaurant, working for many hours without a break.
Operation, dimensions and technical specifications
The 88.3 mm (3.5 inch) colour display is used to programme doses and monitor operation. The illuminated spout can be adjusted to suit the portafilter. The hopper holds around 1.8 kg of beans, so it needs refilling less often during a heavy shift.
The integrated PuqPress M5 automatic tamper fits under the E80S. It mounts as a base under the grinder, so it takes up no extra counter space.
