Eureka Atom W 65 is an electric espresso grinder with Instant Grind Weighing Technology, a built-in weight-based dosing system. It is intended for small and medium cafés, restaurants and bars using up to 1 kg of coffee per hour at peak times. The grinder weighs the coffee as it grinds and keeps the dose repeatable to within 0.2 g, with no extra scale under the portafilter.

How does Instant Grind Weighing Technology work?
Instant Grind Weighing is a system patented by Eureka that monitors the weight of coffee during grinding. The measurement happens inside the grinder, not on an external scale under the portafilter. Once a dose is started, the grinder grinds to the set weight and then stops automatically.
Dose repeatability is up to 0.2 g. In practice the barista does not have to weigh each dose separately or correct grinding time after changing the burr setting. This is especially useful when the beans change density with temperature, humidity or time since the bag was opened.
The electronic display is used to adjust settings and track the number of doses. Lighting at the portafilter holder improves visibility while dosing, particularly on a dark or poorly lit station.
Eureka Atom W 65: output for a small or medium café
The hardened steel flat burrs are 65 mm in diameter and turn at 1,370 rpm. Grinding output is 2.3 to 3.8 g/s, so a standard 18 g dose takes around 4.7-7.8 seconds, depending on grind size and coffee.
The manufacturer rates maximum peak-hour use at 1 kg of coffee and daily use at 2.3-3.8 kg. That makes the Atom W 65 a grinder for small and medium cafés. It also works well in a restaurant or a hotel breakfast service where espresso is an important part of sales but orders do not come in non-stop all day.
For busier venues the Eureka Atom W 75 is the better choice. The larger model has 75 mm burrs, 430 W of power, 3.3-4.8 g/s output and can handle up to 2 kg of coffee in the peak hour.
Atom W 65 or Atom Excellence 65?
The letter W marks the version with built-in weight-based dosing. The Eureka Atom Excellence 65 belongs to the same grinder class and uses 65 mm burrs, but has no Instant Grind Weighing system. It doses by set grinding time, so changes in dose weight have to be checked on a separate scale.
The Eureka Atom W 65 is 7,449 zł gross, while the Atom Excellence 65 is 5,319 zł gross, a difference of 2,130 zł. The extra cost is worth it above all in a venue that wants to cut down on manual weighing, reduce the number of steps for each coffee and keep dose weight stable from one order to the next.
Grind adjustment and other grind-by-weight options
The patented Stepless Micrometric Regulation System adjusts grind size without fixed steps. The barista can make the small corrections needed when dialling in espresso, without jumping between factory-set positions.
A direct alternative among professional grinders with a built-in scale is the Mahlkönig E65W GbS. The Mahlkönig offers higher output of 4-5 g/s, dosing accuracy of 0.1 g and electric burr adjustment, but sits in a higher price bracket. The Eureka remains the simpler and cheaper option for a venue that needs grind-by-weight but does not work at the pace of a very busy café.
Eureka does not offer an integrated tamper for this model. A freestanding PuqPress Q GEN6 or PuqPress Pro can sit next to the grinder.
