Eureka Atom Excellence 65 Electric Grinder

Eureka Atom Excellence 65 is an electric espresso grinder with 65 mm flat burrs, intended for a small or medium café or as a second grinder on the bar. It is the cheapest model in the Atom family in our range, at 5,319 zł gross. Its practical limit is up to 1 kg of coffee per hour at peak. Above that, a faster model with larger burrs is the better choice.

Eureka Atom Excellence 65: what 65 mm burrs can handle

The grinder uses 65 mm flat burrs made of hardened steel. The 280 W motor runs at 1,370 rpm, with a grinding output of 2.3 to 3.8 g/s. An 18 g dose reaches the portafilter in about 5-8 seconds, depending on the coffee and grind setting.

That is enough for a small or medium café, restaurant, hotel or bakery, as long as use in the busiest hour does not exceed 1 kg of coffee. The Atom Excellence 65 also works as a second grinder for decaf espresso, a single origin or a second blend. In a busier venue, the pace of the 65 mm burrs will be the main limitation.

The hopper holds 1.2 kg of beans. That lets you get through a shift without frequent top-ups while still keeping the beans turning over at a sensible rate.

Adjustment, time-based dosing and the ACE system

The stepless Stepless Micrometric Regulation System changes grind size without jumping between fixed positions. In practice you can make a small correction when humidity, temperature or the age of the coffee changes, instead of choosing between two settings that are too far apart.

The Atom Excellence 65 doses by programmed grinding time. It has no built-in scale, so after changing beans or the burr setting you need to check the dose weight on an external scale. The TFT touchscreen makes settings easy to change, the dose counter helps track grinder use, and portafilter lighting improves visibility while you work.

The ACE (Anti-Clumps & Electrostaticity) system reduces clumping and static in the ground coffee at the spout. Grounds land in the basket more neatly, with less coffee scattered around the station. It does not replace proper distribution, but it makes the barista’s daily work easier.

The manufacturer does not publish a noise level in decibels. So there is no reliable way to compare how loud this model is with other grinders based on a specific figure, even though sales descriptions often mention “quiet grinding”.

Excellence 65 vs Specialty 75, Excellence 75 and Atom W 65

At 5,319 zł gross, the key point of comparison is the Atom Specialty 75, which costs just 330 zł more. Here is how the models differ:

• Atom Excellence 65, 5,319 zł: 65 mm burrs, 280 W motor, 2.3-3.8 g/s output, 1.2 kg hopper and a 544 x 278 x 204 mm body.
• Atom Specialty 75, 5,649 zł: 75 mm burrs, 900 W motor, 4-5.5 g/s output, 1.4 kg hopper and a much narrower 570 x 180 x 227 mm body.
• Atom Excellence 75, 6,919 zł: 75 mm burrs, 430 W and 3.3-4.8 g/s output in an Excellence-family body. The extra cost over the 65 mm version is 1,600 zł.
• Atom W 65, 7,449 zł: grinding specifications match the 65 mm version, but the grinder has an Instant Grind Weighing built-in scale and dose repeatability of up to 0.2 g.

If speed is what counts, the Atom Specialty 75 is the more powerful option for just 330 zł more, with larger burrs, a 900 W motor, higher output and a 1.4 kg hopper. You do have to accept a different design: the Specialty is taller and much narrower, while the Excellence 65 has the wider, heavier body typical of its family. This is not the same grinder with different burrs, but two differently designed models.

Who is this grinder the right choice for?

The Eureka Atom Excellence 65 makes sense where entry cost, easy touchscreen operation and precise adjustment matter, but there is no need to grind several kilograms of coffee in a short peak. The 1 kg per hour limit lets you judge the choice by real footfall rather than vague labels like “commercial grinder”.

• restaurants, hotels, bistros or bakeries serving espresso,
• a second grinder on the bar for decaf or a second coffee,
• venues looking for the most affordable way into the Eureka Atom family,
• bars that can check dosing on a separate scale.

The grinder is 544 mm high, 278 mm wide and 204 mm deep, and weighs 11.5 kg. It is available in matte black and white. Eureka does not make an integrated tamper for this model. A freestanding PuqPress Q GEN6 or PuqPress Pro can sit next to the grinder.
