BRITA Water Filters
Professional water filtration for espresso machines and catering equipment. PURITY C cartridges from 960 to 11,500 litres, plus heads and a flow meter.
Woda to ponad 90 procent espresso, a jednocześnie główna przyczyna awarii ekspresów.
Which PURITY C cartridge to choose
Water consumption decides. A cartridge should last roughly a year, because after 12 months it is replaced regardless of throughput.
| Cartridge | Technology | Capacity | Flow |
|---|---|---|---|
| PURITY C50 Quell ST | decarbonisation | up to 960 l | 60 l/h |
| PURITY C150 Quell ST | decarbonisation | up to 2408 l | 60 l/h |
| PURITY C300 Quell ST | decarbonisation | up to 4000 l | 60 l/h |
| PURITY C300 Finest | softening | up to 1800 l | 140 l/h |
| PURITY C500 Quell ST | decarbonisation | up to 6800 l | 100 l/h |
| PURITY C500 Finest | softening | up to 3414 l | 100 l/h |
| PURITY C1100 Quell ST | decarbonisation | up to 11,500 l | 100 l/h |
The capacities above are catalogue figures. The real number of litres depends on the hardness of water in your supply and on the bypass setting on the head, so with very hard water a cartridge is used up faster.
Quell ST or Finest
Quell ST is decarbonisation, meaning a reduction of carbonate hardness. Filtration down to 10 microns and broad use: espresso machines, combi ovens, dishwashers, vending machines. This is the default version when protecting equipment from scale is the priority.
Finest works by softening and was designed mainly for espresso machines, where water affects the taste of the shot directly. In the same housing the capacity is lower than in Quell ST, but the flow is higher, and installation is vertical only.
The head and the cartridge are two separate things
The head is a permanent part of the installation. When a spent filter is replaced you swap only the cartridge, without touching the connections. We stock two versions: with an adjustable 0 to 70 percent bypass and with a fixed 30 percent bypass, both on a 3/8 inch connection.
The bypass decides how much water goes around the filter medium. The harder the water, the lower the bypass set on the head, which extends protection of the equipment at the cost of cartridge life.
When to replace a cartridge
Two conditions apply and whichever comes first wins: capacity used up, or 12 months from installation. To avoid guessing, it is worth fitting a FlowMeter 10-100 CU. The flow meter counts filtered litres to within 5 percent and shows when a cartridge is genuinely running out.
Shared specifications of the PURITY C range
Every cartridge works at water temperatures of 4 to 30 degrees, at a maximum pressure of 8.6 bar, on a G 3/8 inch or John Guest 8 mm connection. Quell ST versions can be mounted vertically or horizontally, Finest vertically only.
Frequently asked questions
How do I size a cartridge?
Estimate daily water use and multiply by the number of working days in a year. If that comes to about 2000 litres, a C150 is plenty. At several thousand litres a year a C300 or C500 makes sense, and the C1100 suits venues with genuinely high turnover and hotels.
Does every cartridge fit every head?
PURITY C cartridges fit PURITY C heads. Check the connection and whether you need an adjustable bypass or a fixed 30 percent is enough.
Does a filter improve the taste of coffee?
Yes, indirectly. Reduced hardness and better tasting water affect extraction, and at the same time protect the boiler and group from scale, the most common cause of expensive repairs.
Will you help pick a filter?
Yes. Write to b2b@colbergcoffee.pl or call +48 883 239 480 with your water hardness and rough daily consumption.
