Match the pitcher to the number of drinks you make at once. Steaming works best when milk fills roughly half the jug, so an oversized pitcher for a single coffee makes the work harder and wastes milk.

The Robusta tamping mat
A silicone mat with a non slip surface holds the portafilter and tamper steady while you tamp, so you keep control of the pressure. The silicone absorbs impact and protects the counter from scratches, and the compact size takes little room on a crowded station. The material is food safe and easy to clean.

Are the pitchers dishwasher safe?
They are stainless steel, so washing is no problem. In practice a cafe rinses them right after every steam anyway, so milk does not dry on.
Does the mat fit every tamper?
