La Marzocco Linea Mini R Espresso Machine (Blue)

The La Marzocco Linea Mini R is a single-group home espresso machine built with features derived from professional café machines. It combines a saturated group, two independent boilers, PID temperature control and a standard 58 mm portafilter. It is made for the home barista who wants equipment that is close, in construction and in handling, to the machines used behind the bar.

What does a saturated group change when you make espresso?

The saturated group comes straight from La Marzocco’s professional espresso machines. The group stays thermally connected to the brew circuit, which helps limit temperature loss between the boiler and the point where the water meets the coffee.

In practice this means more stable conditions from one extraction to the next and less dependence on the group itself warming up. PID control lets you set the temperature to within 1°C, so you can match it to the coffee you are using and repeat a recipe on purpose.

A saturated group does not replace a good grinder or proper puck preparation in the basket. Its job is to provide a stable thermal environment, so that changes in flavour come mainly from your recipe, not from random temperature swings in the machine.

Two boilers at home: what they give you day to day

The Linea Mini R has a separate espresso circuit and an independent 3 l steam boiler. The machine can brew and produce steam without switching a single boiler between different temperature ranges.

Two independent boilers matter most when you make several drinks one after another. You can start steaming milk straight away, without waiting for the machine to reach steam temperature after the extraction. You notice this most when making cappuccino, flat white and other milk drinks for several people.

The professional steam wand lets you work with milk the way you would in a café, and a separate hot water outlet makes americano or tea easy. The boiler pressure gauge and the pump pressure gauge on the front give you direct control over how the machine is running.

Linea Mini R or the smaller Linea Micra?

The Linea Mini R is the better choice if you have a dedicated spot for the machine, regularly make several drinks and want a workflow as close to a café as possible. The standard 58 mm portafilter works with accessories used in hospitality, and the larger steam boiler suits people who often make milk drinks.

Size and weight need to be taken into account. The Linea Mini R is 36 cm wide, 54 cm deep and 38 cm high and weighs 30 kg, so it needs a sturdy countertop and enough working space around it.

The smaller Linea Micra may be the more sensible choice when a compact build matters most and the machine will only make a few coffees a day. The Linea Mini R makes sense when you will actually use its greater steam capacity, full-size ergonomics and the character of a professional single-group machine.

App control and setting up your home station

The La Marzocco Home app lets you control the temperature, set pre-infusion and create an operating schedule. The machine can be ready at a chosen time without being left on all day.

The Linea Mini R can draw water from a 2.5 l tank or be plumbed directly into the water supply. The tank gives you more freedom in where you place the machine, while a fixed connection means less manual refilling at a heavily used station.

The body is made of stainless steel, and interchangeable side panels let you change the look without replacing the whole machine. The finish does not change the group, the boiler system, steam power or any function of the machine. The differences are in appearance and price.
