Peru SHB Chanchamayo: a bold whole bean coffee from the slopes of the Andes
This Peruvian coffee takes you to the hills of the Andes. It is grown on a plateau in central Peru, in the Chanchamayo valley, at more than 1,350 m a.s.l., and it has both history and quality behind it. The region is known worldwide for excellent coffee and owes its reputation to local farmers who look after their crops with real dedication.
Natural farming methods and attention to detail
Most of the farms in the region belong to local Indigenous families who have grown coffee without synthetic inputs for generations. They use no chemicals to tend the trees or harvest the cherries: nature, a favourable climate and traditional methods of work are what give the beans their quality.
The coffee is fully wet-processed. In special water mills the cherries are pulped, then the beans are washed and carefully sorted. The process takes at least a full day, during which the coffee is checked and sorted several times to remove every defective bean. After thorough cleaning, the coffee is dried in the sun on raised drying beds. It is this care at every stage that gives Peru SHB its distinctive character.

Flavour and aroma of Peruvian whole bean coffee for espresso
Beans from Peru give a strong, bold flavour and a full aroma for anyone who likes intensity. The coffee has pronounced chocolate notes, even more intense than popular Brazilian coffees. In the cup you will taste chocolate sweetness woven with the nutty note of butter-roasted almonds.
Its balanced profile makes it ideal for classic espresso as well as for lighter filter brews. A great choice if you like a deep flavour with noticeable sweetness and a nutty bitterness.
Best ways to brew: espresso machine, moka pot
Peru SHB Chanchamayo works well with many brew methods, but you will get the most out of these freshly roasted beans with an espresso machine or a moka pot. Its balanced flavour and aroma suit a morning espresso just as well as a slow afternoon coffee.
Is coffee from Peru worth trying?
Peru SHB Chanchamayo combines intense flavour, a subtle aroma and natural farming methods. Thanks to the high-altitude conditions, no chemicals and careful craftsmanship, every cup takes you to the sunny slopes of the Andes. It shows that flavour, quality and responsibility can go hand in hand.
