The La Marzocco KB90 AV ABR espresso machine is a two-group machine designed for venues where speed of work matters as much as espresso consistency. Straight In portafilters and automatic Steam Flush shorten the tasks performed with every extraction, reducing the number of movements during busy service. Built-in scales, the Auto Brew Ratio system and the Drip Prediction algorithm help end each shot according to the set recipe.

Straight In on the La Marzocco KB90: less movement with every coffee
On a traditional machine, the portafilter has to be slid under the group and then locked in with a firm twist. The Straight In system lets you lock it straight into the group without twisting, which speeds up getting ready for the next extraction and reduces strain on the wrist.
With the odd single order, the difference may seem small. It becomes clear during a long service, when the barista repeatedly removes, empties, fills and refits the portafilters. It does not replace good bar organisation, but it removes one repeated movement and makes it easier to keep a smooth rhythm on both groups.
Steam Flush: a clean group without stopping service
Steam Flush automatically uses steam and water to clean the shower screen between extractions. The barista does not have to flush the group separately each time, so moving from the spent puck to the next shot is quicker.
The biggest benefit is not the time saved on one coffee but the sum of short tasks over a whole shift. When there is a queue, Steam Flush helps reduce gaps between orders and keeps cleaning consistent regardless of which barista is working on the machine.
When does the La Marzocco KB90 espresso machine give a real advantage?
How much Straight In and Steam Flush matter depends more on order volume at peak times than on the total number of coffees sold per day. If both groups are in use back to back and the barista is making espresso and milk drinks without a break for long stretches, every task removed speeds up getting the next orders out.
In a venue that makes only a few espressos an hour, the KB90’s advantage will mainly be ergonomics and convenience. In a café with intense sales periods, Straight In, automatic flushing, two groups and recipe programming start to work as one coherent system. The machine also lets two baristas use separate groups, although the real output of the station still depends on the grinders, the bar layout and how the team is organised.
ABR and Drip Prediction: beverage weight control
The ABR (Auto Brew Ratio) system uses scales built into the machine to control espresso preparation according to the set recipe. Instead of ending the extraction based only on time or volume, the barista can work with a target beverage weight and a ratio between the coffee and the finished espresso.
The Drip Prediction algorithm accounts for the espresso still dripping into the cup after the water flow stops. The machine stops that part of the process early enough that the drips left in the portafilter do not regularly push the result over the set target. This matters especially during fast service, when watching two scales and stopping both extractions by hand would be less convenient for the barista.
Independent boilers and service access
Each group has its own 1.3 l brew boiler and independent temperature control. This lets you set two different brewing temperatures, for example for coffees with different roast profiles. A separate 7 l steam boiler supplies the Pro Touch steam wands, whose surface does not heat up the way traditional steam wands do.
The design uses logic and components proven in the Linea PB, which simplifies diagnostics and servicing. The steam valve is accessible from the front, so basic work on it does not require taking apart a large part of the machine.
The standard version is 99,039.60 zł gross, and the Full Inox version 103,900 zł gross. The difference of 4,860.40 zł covers building the machine entirely in stainless steel. The functional features, the ABR system and the operating parameters stay the same.
