The La Marzocco Strada S ABR espresso machine is a two-group machine for specialty coffee shops where precise recipes have to go hand in hand with open contact across the bar. The low body does not hide the guest, and the built-in ABR scales stop the extraction at the target beverage weight. Independent saturated boilers, programmable doses and PID control of temperature and pressure help the whole team keep to a shared working standard.

What does the low profile of the La Marzocco Strada S change at the bar?
The low body line improves visibility over the machine, so the barista can talk to guests more easily, take orders and show how the coffee is made. This matters especially on open bars, where the machine stands between the staff and the customer.
This design does not directly increase output, nor does it improve extraction quality in itself. What it changes is how the station is used: the machine becomes part of the contact with the guest rather than a tall barrier separating the barista from the room. In a venue where the machine stands on the back counter, the benefit of the low profile will be less noticeable.
A low profile does not mean a small machine. The Strada S is 83 cm wide and 69 cm deep, so it needs a properly prepared counter and room to work comfortably at both groups.
ABR: extraction stopped by beverage weight
The ABR (Auto Brew Ratio) system uses scales built into the machine and stops the extraction once the programmed beverage weight is reached. The barista does not have to watch a separate scale or stop each shot by hand, which makes working on two groups at once easier.
ABR helps hold the set ratio and reduces differences caused by individual reaction times. It does not, however, correct the wrong grind, dose or distribution of coffee in the basket. Those remain the barista’s job. Built-in weight control is a tool for repeating a good recipe, not a substitute for dialling in espresso properly.
La Marzocco Strada S or KB90?
Both machines have two groups, the ABR system and features designed for regular café work. They differ, though, in the main focus of their design. The KB90 concentrates on the speed of repeated tasks thanks to Straight In portafilters and automatic Steam Flush group cleaning, while the Strada S puts the emphasis on a low profile, contact with guests and precise recipe management.
If the venue’s main challenge is a high volume of orders and the number of movements baristas make, the KB90 may bring a more noticeable operational benefit. The Strada S is a better fit for an open specialty bar, where the machine has to deliver consistency without getting in the way of conversation and of showing the barista’s work.
The KB90 AV ABR is 99,039.60 zł gross, so the Strada S is 14,151.72 zł more. Paying more does not automatically mean higher output. The decision should follow from the bar concept, the way guests are served and how much the low body matters in a particular venue.
Separate temperature for each group
Each group uses an independent saturated boiler and can run at its own set temperature. This lets you prepare two coffees that need different parameters at the same time, without changing the settings for the whole machine between orders.
The brew boilers have a combined capacity of 2.6 l, and the steam boiler holds 8.2 l. PID control of temperature and pressure keeps the set parameters stable, and programmable doses help the team reproduce the same recipes shift after shift.
Pro Touch steam wands do not burn if touched by accident, which improves safety during busy periods and makes routine cleaning easier. Optional integration with La Marzocco’s parameter management system can further simplify keeping settings under control in one venue or across several locations working to shared standards.
Station requirements and place in the range
The La Marzocco Strada S ABR is 83 cm wide, 69 cm deep and 50 cm high, and weighs 77 kg. Power ranges from 4,330 to 5,666 W. The machine can run on 200 V, 220 V or 380 V, with a single-phase or three-phase supply, so the power supply has to be planned when designing the station.
The La Marzocco Strada S ABR is 113,191.32 zł gross. It sits between the KB90 AV ABR at 99,039.60 zł and the Strada X at 146,772.12 zł gross. Choosing the Strada S makes sense when a café needs a two-group machine with ABR scales and independent control of each group, and the low profile genuinely supports the way guests are served.
