Nuova Simonelli Appia Life Volumetric 2-Group Espresso Machine

The Appia Life Volumetric 2GR is a two-group Nuova Simonelli espresso machine with volumetric dosing, insulated boilers and the SIS system. It suits cafés, bakeries, restaurants and hotel bars where the machine has to work predictably for years and the person using it is not always a barista. At 784 mm wide and running on 230 or 380 V, it can be set up and connected in almost any venue.

Appia Life Volumetric: simpler work behind the bar

The volumetric version has programmed doses: the barista presses a button, and the machine measures the water and ends the extraction on its own. Espresso comes out the same no matter who is at the machine, and the person behind the bar can steam milk in the meantime.

Consistency also comes from the built-in volumetric pump and the SIS (Soft Infusion System), a gentle pre-infusion that gives a fuller espresso with lasting crema and reduces the effect of uneven tamping on taste.

Two groups, an 11 L boiler and 3150 W

The 784 mm width fits two groups on a counter where a machine over 80 cm wide would not. Boiler insulation limits heat loss, which shows on the electricity bill when the machine is on for the whole working day.

Appia Life or Nuova Aurelia: where the difference lies

The Appia Life is built for reliability and simple operation: classic push&pull steam levers and less electronics. The Nuova Aurelia Volumetric is a step up: electronic E-Steam control, a more powerful heating element (4700 W versus 3150 W in the 2GR version) that recovers temperature faster under continuous use, a pull-out drip tray and a wider choice of options, including E-Milk automatic milk frothing.

If you sell a few dozen coffees a day and most of them are espresso and classic milk drinks, the Appia Life is more than enough. The Aurelia starts to make sense when the machine works under constant load for most of the day.

Appia Life 2GR colours

Two colour versions are available. Black is the standard version with a printed body. White has a lacquered body, and the manufacturer’s surcharge for lacquering is already included in the price of this variant. Lacquered versions in red and metallic grey are available to order.
