New size and new look! Mount Caramel pumpkin syrup now comes in a larger 250 ml bottle instead of 200 ml, with a refreshed label design. It is a handmade Polish syrup for making a pumpkin spice latte and other autumn drinks at home.
What Mount Caramel pumpkin syrup tastes like
This is not sweetness from a pumpkin flavouring. The base is caramelised sugar, which gives depth and a light toffee note, and only on top of that come pumpkin extract, cinnamon and ginger. Fresh lemon juice balances the rest: it lifts the spices and keeps the syrup from turning cloying.
In coffee with milk, cinnamon and caramel come through most clearly, while the pumpkin stays in the background. That is a good thing, because syrups dominated by pumpkin tend to get tiring after two cups.
How to make a pumpkin spice latte at home
You do not need an expensive espresso machine. A moka pot or a filter coffee maker and a milk frother are enough.
- Pour 15-20 ml of syrup into the bottom of the mug. That is about one tablespoon.
- Make strong coffee, for example a double espresso or coffee from a moka pot. Pour it over the syrup and stir while it is hot.
- Heat and froth 150 ml of milk. Regular 3.2% cow’s milk works well, and among plant drinks, a barista oat drink.
- Pour in the milk and grate a little cinnamon or nutmeg on top.
Start with 15 ml and adjust to taste. It is easier to add more than to rescue an oversweet coffee.
What else it goes with
- Hot chocolate: 10 ml is enough to turn it into an autumn drink.
- Black tea with milk, chai style. The ginger and cinnamon in the syrup fit naturally here.
- Pancakes, waffles, porridge: pour it on instead of maple syrup.
- Vanilla ice cream: a spoonful of syrup and a few walnuts.
- Iced coffee for the warm days of September: syrup, cold milk, ice and espresso.

This is a sugar syrup and we do not pretend otherwise. A serving for one coffee is a dozen or so grams, which is roughly the same as two teaspoons of sugar, only with spices instead of plain sweetness.
250 ml or 750 ml
With one coffee a day, a 250 ml bottle lasts for over a dozen servings, which covers a good part of the season. It is a sensible choice if you are buying pumpkin syrup for the first time or drink it mainly in autumn.
If several people at home drink it, you run a café, or you know the syrup will go quickly, a 750 ml version is also available for more frequent use.
Storage
Before opening, keep at room temperature, away from sunlight. After opening, store in the fridge and use within a reasonable time, as with any natural syrup without preservatives. Shake gently before use, because the spices can settle at the bottom.
