The Kent variety and its character
Kent is a classic Tanzanian Arabica variety, known for its large, dense beans and distinctive profile. In the Karatu region, at 1,600-1,800 m a.s.l., it develops its full aroma thanks to cool nights and slow ripening of the fruit. It is a variety that produces clean, juicy and elegantly fruity coffees.
Ngila Estate: a farm at the foot of Ngorongoro
Ngila Estate is one of the best-run farms in northern Tanzania. Located near the famous Ngorongoro Crater and Manyara Park, it benefits from extremely fertile volcanic soils and a unique microclimate. This is where its intense fruity aromas, natural sweetness and high clarity of flavour come from.
Fermented washed processing
Kent AA beans are fermented and washed, which highlights a clean profile and fruity character. The carefully controlled process brings out honey sweetness, juicy redcurrant and a fresh citrus touch of mandarin. This method shows off the subtlety and clarity of high-grown Tanzanian coffees very well.
Tanzania Ngila Estate Kent tasting notes
Redcurrant and mandarin dominate. In the background there is light honey sweetness, sugar cane and subtle tea notes. The acidity is bright and pleasantly fruity, the body light but smooth. It is a harmonious, clean and very drinkable coffee.
Which brew methods suit Tanzania Kent
Tanzania Kent AA shows its best side in pour-over methods: V60, Kalita, Origami, AeroPress, Chemex. In a dripper it gains the juiciness, freshness and clarity that are the hallmark of Ngila Estate.
