Croissants with white poppy seed, made to the St Martin’s recipe

From 9 to 11 November our cafe in Kołobrzeg is serving something special: St Martin’s croissants, made to the traditional recipe in a bakery here in town. The original, known in Polish as a rogal świętomarciński, is a regional speciality from Poznań. What we serve is our own version of it, the traditional flavour with a local accent.

Fresh and warm from a Kołobrzeg bakery

They are baked every day in a bakery in Kołobrzeg, so they reach you fresh and still warm. Sweet icing on top, crunchy chopped nuts scattered over it, and inside a filling of white poppy seed, almonds and candied orange peel. They look good, but the point of them is the taste.

Why 11 November matters

St Martin’s croissants belong to St Martin’s Day, which falls on 11 November. The croissant stands for generosity and plenty, and its horseshoe shape is a symbol of good luck. We keep that tradition alive in Kołobrzeg as well, which gives you three days to try one.

The finale: 11 November at the Colbergcoffee cafe

The big day is 11 November, when we have even more of them in. Come to the cafe at Dubois 21A, try one, and taste what November tastes like in Kołobrzeg. They go particularly well with a cup of our freshly roasted coffee, and that is a combination worth turning up for.

Come and see us at the cafe.
