White Poppy Seed Croissants Are Back at Colbergcoffee
We have white poppy seed croissants again this year, and you can already order them! Visit our cafe in Kołobrzeg at 21A Dubois Street. Our croissants are made using a recipe inspired by traditional St Martin’s croissants (rogal świętomarciński). They are baked in a local pastry workshop, bringing a taste of Poznań’s tradition to Kołobrzeg.
What’s Inside Our White Poppy Seed Croissants?
The filling is made with white poppy seeds, almonds and candied orange peel. Each croissant is topped with sweet icing and sprinkled with nuts. It’s a familiar combination for anyone who enjoys traditional St Martin’s croissants. Ours are baked in a pastry workshop right here in Kołobrzeg.
The Tradition of St Martin’s Croissants on 11 November
St Martin’s croissants come from Poznań and are traditionally associated with St Martin’s Day, celebrated on 11 November. They are among the best-known regional pastries from Greater Poland. At our cafe in Kołobrzeg, we also celebrate this tradition by offering our own version filled with white poppy seeds and inspired by the traditional Poznań recipe.
