Friday morning on the streets of the Kołobrzeg old town was a little different from usual. We went out into town with the team from Gazeta Kołobrzeska, the local newspaper, to surprise residents and visitors. In our hands: freshly roasted coffee from the Colbergcoffee roastery and copies of the Gazeta Kołobrzeska still smelling of printing ink.
Within minutes it was obvious this had been a good idea. People stopped for a chat, took a cup of hot coffee and tucked the paper under their arm. The mood was easy, full of smiles and quick conversations. We talked about our Kołobrzeg Blend and the Captain’s Blend, and both went down brilliantly with locals.

Walking around we ran into the council’s parks and gardens crew, fitting new installations beside the Baszta Lontowa, one of the old town’s historic towers. When we came over with the coffee we got broad grins and a few jokes about Colbergcoffee saving the day.
The whole thing was a good example of what local businesses can do when they work together. We joined forces with Gazeta Kołobrzeska and made something simple but worth doing: a moment to stop in the middle of an ordinary day, a bit of conversation, a bit of good coffee.
Now, when we sit down in our cafe on the old town, we feel it more strongly than ever: Kołobrzeg is a community, people who like being around each other and enjoying simple things. We had a great time with it, and who knows, morning coffee with the paper might yet turn into a small tradition.
