Autumn is a good time to swap your usual order for something seasonal. Our autumn menu has just launched at the Colbergcoffee café in Kołobrzeg: pumpkin spice latte made to our own recipe, Vanilla Kinako Matcha, maple and turmeric drinks with a choice of espresso or matcha, and a warming infusion with no coffee at all.

Below we describe each drink: what goes into it, how it tastes and who will enjoy it most.

Pumpkin spice latte: a classic, made our way

An autumn menu without pumpkin spice latte would feel incomplete. We make it the classic way: espresso from coffee roasted in our own roastery, steamed milk, pumpkin and our own blend of warm spices.

The blend has five ingredients: cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg and cloves. Each spice goes in at half the amount of the one before it. Cinnamon leads, ginger adds a kick, and a small amount of cloves gives a warm, spicy finish. With these proportions you can still taste the espresso.

Want to make it at home? We cover the spice proportions, an iced version and a version without an espresso machine in our pumpkin spice latte recipe.

Vanilla Kinako Matcha

Vanilla Kinako Matcha is matcha with vanilla, milk and kinako, which is roasted soybean flour. Kinako is what gives the drink its light nutty, toasty flavour. Soy is an allergen, so if you are allergic, pick another drink from the menu.

In our version the matcha comes through without taking over. Vanilla adds sweetness and milk makes the whole drink creamy and mellow. If you like matcha latte and want to try it in a less obvious form, start here.

Maple Latte or Maple Matcha

Maple syrup and cinnamon say autumn straight away. You can order this pairing in two versions: with espresso as a Maple Latte or with matcha as a Maple Matcha.

Maple Latte has a clear coffee flavour that works well with the sweetness of maple syrup. Cinnamon brings out the autumn character without masking the espresso.

Maple Matcha is milder and creamier. Here the matcha meets the gentle caramel note of maple syrup. It is a good pick if you usually order a matcha latte but fancy something seasonal.

Apple & Rosemary: an apple and rosemary infusion

Not every autumn café visit has to end with coffee. Apple & Rosemary is a hot infusion of roasted apple, pear purée, rosemary, honey and spices.

Apple and pear give it natural fruity sweetness. Rosemary cuts through that with a fresh, herbal aroma, while honey and spices warm you up on a chilly day.

It is for anyone who does not feel like espresso or matcha but wants something hot with a bold character.

Golden Latte or Golden Matcha

The last new drink is a golden one with turmeric, honey and spices. Just like the maple version, you choose the base: espresso or matcha.

We make the Golden Latte with espresso. The coffee gives it intensity, while turmeric, honey and spices bring a warm, slightly sweet flavour.

In our version the Golden Matcha has a more grassy, plant-like character than the Golden Latte. Honey softens the boldness of the matcha and turmeric. It is an interesting alternative to a classic matcha latte.
