When spring arrived, Colbergcoffee introduced a new seasonal menu, built specifically for that time of year. Spring is when we naturally reach for lighter, fresher flavours, so the menu featured original drinks inspired by fruit, creamy textures and the delicate aromas of the season. Colbergcoffee’s spring menu combined creative flavour pairings with the café’s own style, so that everyone could find a drink that suited a spring get-together.
Passion Berry Cold Brew
Passion Berry Cold Brew was made with warmer days in mind. Its base was cold brew: coffee steeped in cold water for many hours. That process gives a mellow, smooth cup without heavy bitterness.
Passion fruit was added for tropical freshness and a light acidity, finished with a blueberry foam: a delicate, creamy top with a subtle fruity aroma.
The result was light and enjoyable. The coffee was still there, but the fruit notes gave the drink its most distinctive character.
Sakura Tonic Matcha Cherry
This drink was a small nod to Japan and one of its most recognisable symbols, the blossoming sakura cherry tree. In Japan, hanami, the tradition of admiring the blossom, is associated with the start of spring and a moment to pause.
The base was matcha, giving the drink a fresh, slightly grassy character, with natural cherry purée adding juicy fruit sweetness and a beautiful colour.
It was topped with a sakura-flavoured tonic, making the drink lightly sparkling, fresh and unmistakably spring. Sakura Tonic Matcha Cherry was one of those drinks that didn’t just taste good, it captured the mood of the season.
Banana Salt Caramel Matcha
Banana Salt Caramel Matcha was a drink that surprised from the first sip. Matcha brought freshness and a slightly grassy character that worked well with the natural sweetness of banana.
Salted caramel added subtle depth and a touch of contrast. It’s what stopped the drink from being one-dimensional: the banana sweetness was cut through by a gentle note of salt and caramel.
A banana foam on top tied everything together into one harmonious drink. The result was creamy, but still fresh and very drinkable, ideal for anyone who likes unusual but well-balanced flavour pairings.
Black Sesame Hojicha
Black Sesame Hojicha was for anyone who likes more unusual flavours. The base was hojicha, a Japanese tea that differs from classic green tea in that the leaves are roasted.
That roasting gives hojicha a completely different flavour profile, with toasted, lightly caramel and distinctly nutty notes.
In our version, hojicha was combined with a hint of nut and topped with a black sesame foam, which added a creamy texture and a distinct, lightly sesame aroma.
It was a quieter drink, more savoury than sweet: ideal for anyone keen to explore new tea flavours.
In summary
Colbergcoffee’s spring menu was an invitation to explore fresh, interesting flavour pairings that captured the mood of the season. It featured drinks inspired by fruit, delicate aromas and creamy textures, so every visit to the café could taste a little different.
These drinks were designed for spring get-togethers, a relaxed coffee break, or a quiet moment during a walk around Kołobrzeg, the seaside town on Poland’s Baltic coast where our café is based.
