This Victoria Arduino Eagle One review is written by Szymon, a barista at the Colbergcoffee cafe in Kołobrzeg, who also writes articles for our blog.
I work with a two-group Victoria Arduino Eagle One every day. This isn’t a laboratory test. I’m sharing my own experience of using the machine in a busy cafe: what makes the job easier, what to consider before buying and who this espresso machine is best suited for.
You can try coffee made on this machine at the Colbergcoffee cafe in Kołobrzeg. If you’re looking for equipment for your own business, start with our guide on how to choose an espresso machine for a cafe.
Victoria Arduino Eagle One review: at a glance
The Eagle One is a professional espresso machine from the Italian brand Victoria Arduino, part of Simonelli Group. It has a low-profile body, a modern design and technology designed to reduce energy consumption. It’s available in two- and three-group versions and several colours. Eagle One Prima, now also known as E1 Prima, is a separate single-group model from the same technology family, designed for smaller businesses and advanced home use.
| Feature | How it helps behind the bar |
|---|---|
| NEO heating system | Brewing water is heated as needed, reducing the energy required to keep the machine ready |
| T.E.R.S. system | Recovers heat from discharged water to preheat incoming water |
| Volumetric dosing | Consistent espresso volumes, regardless of who’s working behind the bar |
| Individual group settings | Separate programmes, for example, one for a blend and another for seasonal coffee |
| Automatic group flushing (AutoPurge) | Faster workflow and cleaner group heads between coffees |
| Insulated steam wands (Cool Touch) | Wands stay cooler to the touch and are easier to keep clean |
| Display and group lighting | Convenient settings and a clear view of espresso extraction |
| Low-profile design | The barista can see and talk to guests |
Consistency: volumetric dosing in practice
For me, consistency is one of the most important qualities of an espresso machine. A guest should get the same carefully prepared coffee in the morning and the afternoon. Volumetric dosing helps enormously with that. I programme the amount of water passing through during extraction, and the machine automatically stops brewing. However, that doesn’t mean the weight of the espresso in the cup will always be identical.
Each group head has its own dosing programmes. You can set up different recipes for a blend used in milk-based drinks and beans served as straight espresso. During busy periods, you don’t have to stop every extraction manually. It’s still worth weighing the espresso regularly and checking that the recipe is producing the intended result.
Even a good espresso machine can’t make up for a poorly adjusted grinder. Change the grind size and you’ll change the flow rate and flavour of your espresso. That’s why it’s worth pairing the Eagle One with a grinder that offers precise adjustment, such as those in our range of commercial coffee grinders.
Energy efficiency: NEO and T.E.R.S.
The Eagle One was designed to reduce energy consumption. Its NEO (New Engine Optimization) system uses small coffee boilers and rapidly heats the water needed for extraction. This doesn’t mean the machine is completely boilerless. T.E.R.S. (Temperature Energy Recovery System) recovers heat from water discharged by the machine and uses it to preheat incoming water.
According to the manufacturer, these technologies reduce energy consumption and the machine’s environmental impact. Victoria Arduino states that the T.E.R.S. system alone can save approximately 8% of total energy consumption. Actual savings depend on the machine version, workload and how it’s used. In everyday operation, fast heating and getting the machine ready efficiently for the morning opening are also important.
Working with the Eagle One: speed and convenience
Behind the bar, coffee flavour isn’t the only thing that matters. Speed and ease of use are just as important. When a queue starts forming, every extra task takes time. The Eagle One has several features that help:
- Automatic group flushing (AutoPurge): when this feature is enabled, the machine automatically flushes the group head after you remove the portafilter. There’s no need to start the flush manually.
- Insulated steam wands (Cool Touch): reduce the risk of burns and make it easier to wipe the wand immediately after steaming milk.
- Touchscreen control panel: lets you adjust settings and monitor the machine’s operation. Additional LED lighting beneath the group heads makes it easier to observe extraction.
- Low-profile design: makes it easy to talk to guests over the machine. It doesn’t block the entire bar.
The Eagle One gets ready for work relatively quickly. Under suitable conditions, you can begin brewing coffee just a few minutes after switching it on, although the steam system may take longer to become fully ready. The exact time depends on the starting conditions and machine settings. When planning your morning opening, it’s worth allowing separately for espresso extraction and milk steaming readiness.
Design and build quality
The Eagle One looks modern without unnecessary decoration. It has a clean, low-profile shape, a sculpted front and carefully finished details. It works particularly well in cafes with an open bar. The available colour options also make it easier to match the machine to your interior.
I’ve worked with various espresso machines, and the Eagle One is one of the most comfortable I’ve used. It’s not just about the looks. Access to the group heads, the position of the controls and the low-profile design all make everyday work easier. Good ergonomics also means less fatigue after spending many hours behind the bar.

Frequently asked questions about Victoria Arduino Eagle One
Is the Victoria Arduino Eagle One suitable for a busy cafe?
Yes. The two- and three-group versions work well in cafes preparing large numbers of coffees during peak hours. Volumetric dosing and optional automatic group flushing make everyday work easier. We also use a two-group Eagle One at our cafe in Kołobrzeg.
What’s the difference between Eagle One and Eagle One Prima?
The Eagle One is a professional commercial espresso machine available in two- and three-group versions. Eagle One Prima, also known as E1 Prima, is a separate single-group model designed for smaller businesses and advanced home use. Both machines share related technologies, but differ in their construction and capabilities.
What is the NEO system in the Eagle One?
NEO (New Engine Optimization) is a heating system that uses small coffee boilers and rapidly heats water for extraction. Compared with less efficient designs, it reduces the energy needed to keep the machine ready for use. However, it doesn’t eliminate boilers.
What is T.E.R.S.?
T.E.R.S. (Temperature Energy Recovery System) is a heat recovery system. It uses heat from water discharged by the machine to preheat incoming water. According to the manufacturer, this reduces the machine’s total energy consumption by approximately 8%.
Does the Eagle One need a water filter?
The Eagle One requires water that meets the manufacturer’s specifications. A properly selected filtration system helps reduce limescale buildup and maintain good coffee flavour. The filter should be chosen based on water hardness, alkalinity and other water quality parameters at your premises.
Is it spelled Victoria Arduino or Viktoria Arduino?
The correct brand name is Victoria Arduino, with a “c”. The spelling “Viktoria” is incorrect, although you may still come across it in search results.
Where can I buy a Victoria Arduino Eagle One?
